Amazon Account Suspension Lawyer for Sellers
An Amazon suspension lawyer finds out why Amazon restricted an account or ASIN, prepares the Plan of Action with the records behind it and advises on escalation, held funds and your rights under the Business Solutions Agreement. Reinstatement is Amazon’s decision, and no lawyer can guarantee it. Many sellers can start by saving the notice and gathering records.
If this just happened: what to do in the next 24–48 hours
- Save the notice. Screenshot or export the Seller Central notification and the Account Health page. Write down the stated reason, any ASINs listed and every deadline.
- Talk to a lawyer before you open another seller account. Amazon has policies on multiple and related accounts, and a second account opened while a problem is unresolved can add risk. Amazon’s multiple-accounts policy allows one account per region unless there is a legitimate business need, and says that a policy violation in one account can affect related accounts, including cancelled listings, suspension, deactivation and suspended payments (Amazon Seller Central announcement).
- Hold off on rapid-fire appeals. Work out the root cause first. A rushed first draft can leave you with less to work with on the next one.
- Start gathering records. Amazon tests the story in your appeal against the paper behind it, so the documents carry more weight than the prose.
- Check funds and inventory. Note your current disbursement balance and the inventory sitting in fulfillment centers. See our Section 3 deactivation guide for what the Business Solutions Agreement says about each.
- Call us before you file. (833) 326-6529 or Email Us

What kind of suspension do I have?
Start by identifying which of four situations you are in. The notice wording matters because the next steps differ.
| What Amazon did | Common name | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Blocked or removed one product listing from sale | ASIN or listing suspension | Identify the policy cited and whether the problem is the listing, the sourcing or the product. The fix differs for each. See ASIN suspension and listing removals. |
| Restricted your ability to sell in a category or brand | Selling restriction or category gating | Check which approval or documentation Amazon is asking for. |
| Deactivated your whole seller account, sometimes withholding payments | Account suspension | Preserve records, identify the root cause, prepare a Plan of Action. See the Section 3 guide. |
| Cited Business Solutions Agreement Section 3 as the basis for terminating your account | “Section 3” deactivation | Read the notice closely for the grounds and appeal options it states. Read the Section 3 guide. |
Key terms
- Plan of Action (POA)
- A written response to Amazon that states the root cause of the problem, what you have already corrected and what you will do to prevent it from happening again, supported by documents.
- ASIN suspension
- A block on a single product page identified by its ASIN, which can remove that listing from sale.
- Seller-level ASIN restriction
- A limit on your ability to sell a particular ASIN while other sellers may still be able to list it. This is different from Amazon removing the product page itself.
- Section 3 deactivation
- An account termination or suspension under Section 3 (“Term and Termination”) of Amazon’s Business Solutions Agreement. Details here.
Why does Amazon suspend seller accounts and ASINs?
Amazon can act when its systems or reviewers conclude that a seller or product may breach its policies or harm customers, other sellers or Amazon. The BSA lists grounds for immediate suspension or termination, including a material breach that is not cured, suspected deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity, harm to others, a low Account Health Rating or a legal requirement (Section 3). Reasons sellers report include:
- Product safety complaints. A reported or suspected safety issue with a product.
- Condition problems. Items sold as new that were not, including used or repackaged units.
- “Not as described,” materially different or missing-parts complaints. The listing does not match what customers receive.
- Authenticity or counterfeit complaints. Amazon may ask for supply-chain documents showing where inventory came from.
- Intellectual property complaints. Trademark, copyright or patent claims from a rights owner. See Amazon IP claims.
- Account-level issues. Identity or business verification problems, or concerns about related accounts.
What goes into a Plan of Action?
A Plan of Action is read by a reviewer who reads many of them. It fails when the stated cause does not match the records, when it argues instead of documents or when it promises fixes with no proof. Amazon’s current appeal runs through the Account Health page and often takes the form of a questionnaire, a violation acknowledgement, a short quiz or document uploads. Your Plan of Action supplies the facts and records for those steps. We help you find the real cause, build the record around it and write for the reviewer. Amazon makes the decision.
Do I need a lawyer, or can I file a Plan of Action myself?
A lawyer can review the notice and the Business Solutions Agreement, organize the facts and documents, prepare the Plan of Action, advise on escalation and advise on funds and contractual remedies. A lawyer cannot control Amazon’s decision.
Is a Plan of Action the only way to respond?
No. Amazon’s appeal flow on the Account Health page is the usual first step, and the Plan of Action is one part of it. It is not the only tool. Depending on the notice, other steps may include a targeted appeal on a single ASIN, an escalation request, corrections to the underlying listing or supply chain or a claim under the dispute-resolution terms of the Business Solutions Agreement. The BSA provides for binding arbitration of most disputes with Amazon, with exceptions (Section 20, “Dispute Resolution”). What the arbitration clause says.
Many matters are decided inside Amazon, above the first-line reviewer, when the record is strong enough to support a second look. We build the record for the escalation, not only the first filing. Arbitration is the last resort. Results vary and no outcome is promised.
What happens to my money and inventory?
Under Section 2 of the Business Solutions Agreement, Amazon may withhold payments for as long as it determines related risks continue, and it says it will offer an avenue to appeal a fund-withholding decision. For inventory, the Fulfillment by Amazon terms say that after termination Amazon may return or dispose of units if you do not give instructions within 14 days after termination or the period set in Amazon’s Program Policies. Read the full answer, with citations, on the Section 3 and held funds page.
Sellers can also raise an argument that a full-balance freeze operates more like a penalty than like stipulated or liquidated damages under Washington law, the BSA’s governing law. It is an argument, not settled law. The argument is explained on our Section 3 page.
Realistic expectations
- We cannot guarantee that Amazon will reinstate an account, an ASIN or release funds.
- Amazon’s help page says to expect a reply within two days. In practice replies vary, and a reply is often a request for more information rather than a decision.
- Past results do not guarantee similar outcomes.
How does the engagement work?
- Intake call. You describe the notice and what you have done so far. We tell you whether it looks like a matter where a lawyer adds value.
- Written scope. If you want to proceed, we confirm the scope of the work in writing before it starts.
- Review and facts. We review the notice, your account history and your records to identify the root cause.
- Draft and submit. We prepare the Plan of Action and supporting package for your review, then submit it with you.
- Monitor and escalate. We follow Amazon’s response and advise on next steps.
